Nestled in the heart of Midtown Manhattan at 5 W 37th St, Reichenbach Hall offers an authentic and vibrant German dining experience that perfectly captures the spirit of Bavaria right in New York City. This dynamic spot is much more than just a restaurant—it’s a lively bar, beer garden, cocktail lounge, and night club rolled into one, making it a must-visit destination for lovers of hearty food, cold beer, and a festive atmosphere.
At Reichenbach Hall, the cuisine is a loving homage to traditional German flavors with a contemporary twist. The menu boasts irresistible dishes that entice the senses from the very first bite. Imagine sinking your teeth into their Jäger Schnitzel with Hunter Mushroom Sauce, where tender, crispy pork cutlets are bathed in a rich, earthy mushroom gravy that comforts like a warm embrace. The Sauerbraten, a classic German pot roast marinated to perfection, melts effortlessly on the tongue, while the Bavarian Beef Goulash delights with its robust paprika-infused sauce, offering a perfect balance of smoky and savory tastes.
For those seeking shareable indulgences, the Uber Pretzel stands tall—a colossal, golden-brown pretzel that’s soft on the inside with a satisfyingly salty crust. Paired with a cold, frothy Paulaner Salvator or any of their expertly curated draft beers, it’s a snack that transports you straight to Oktoberfest celebrations. The Potato Pancakes—a fan favorite—are crispy at the edges and tender inside, a harmonious dance of textures that evoke homemade comfort. Not to be missed are the German Style Buffalo Wings, adeptly blending traditional spice with a German twist, and the hearty Kielbasa Plate, bursting with smoky, savory sausage accompanied by tangy side sauerkraut. For a perfect finish, the Apfelstrudel and Black Forest Cake provide a sweet, atmospheric denouement to any meal.
The ambiance at Reichenbach Hall pulses with energy, especially during the famed Oktoberfest season when the space transforms into a lively beer hall filled with cheers, music, and genuine camaraderie. Regular live music performances on Fridays elevate the vibe, delivering an authentic feel of a German biergarten. Customers appreciate not just the food and drinks but the warm, welcoming service. As Diana Ocampo highlighted, the staff goes above and beyond to create memorable experiences—like when they promptly changed a TV to catch a championship game, underscoring their attentive hospitality.
Real guests frequently rave about the atmosphere and quality here. Patrick DeBono celebrated the “pretty awesome” food paired with an impressive draft beer menu, while Nirav Shah described Reichenbach Hall as an “absolute gem” with an “incredible” Oktoberfest atmosphere and friendly staff who elevate every visit. Vladislav Zborovskiy echoed these sentiments, applauding the “great German vibes” and “topnotch” beer selection that makes it a lively and inviting night out.
Whether you’re a German cuisine aficionado or simply craving bold flavors paired with an unparalleled beer list, Reichenbach Hall promises a richly satisfying experience. It’s a place where the hearty dishes invite you to slow down and savor, the cold beers are poured just right, and the infectious energy sparks memorable nights with friends and family alike. This is more than dining—it’s a joyful celebration of culture and community in the bustling heart of New York City.
Really good German restaurant. First time and it was overall a good experience but the service wasn’t great. They have a nice draft beer menu. The food was pretty awesome. I had a pork and beef brat. My wife had a chicken meal that was pretty awesome. My mom had their kielbasa. Everything was super tasty. We also shared their pretzel and potato pancakes. I would say one of the best details was their side dishes. Potato salad was awesome, red cabbage was really great as well. Sauerkraut was pretty great, too. It’s a big open hall with long tables. I don’t love that we couldn’t get our own table (we didn’t have a reservation). Good experience. Great food. Wish our server had come by to check on our table, but she really didn’t except for one stop during our meal and then to bring the check.
Had a wonderful lunch at Reichenbach Hall. Choose the Jaeger Schnitzel and Currywurst with fries. Location is close to Times Square and bar seating or Beer Hall type tables to enjoy.
Reichenbach Hall is an absolute gem in NYC! The atmosphere during Oktoberfest is incredible – lively, festive, and full of great energy. They have an excellent selection of German beers that perfectly complement the celebration. I also loved that they feature live music on Fridays, which makes the experience even more fun and authentic. The bar and wait staff are amazing and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. A special shoutout to our server, Sarita – hands down one of the best bartenders I’ve ever met in NYC. She was friendly, attentive, and really made the night memorable. If you’re in the city, I highly recommend visiting Reinbach Hall, especially during Oktoberfest. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy great beer, music, and outstanding service!
Reichenbach Hall was awesome! Great German vibes, hearty food, and fun atmosphere. The beer selection was top-notch, and the staff made it a lively, welcoming night out in the city! ????????
Came in hoping they’d be willing to change one of the TVs so we could catch the volleyball championship—and without hesitation, Jack made it happen. That kind of service instantly sets the tone. I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the food, but was pleasantly surprise, every single thing we ordered was delicious. Great vibes, great service, and food that absolutely delivers. We’ll definitely be back.
Walked in off the street because the 0oace looked cool. I did not expect to find a full German beirhaus near my hotel. Just by sitting at the bar, I met Amanda, Fiona, Sherin, James, and Sarita all of them super-friendly. As a solo traveler, that means the world, so I cannot say enough about the wonderful staff here. They are wonderful. The food is delicious. The German Mac and Cheese was exactly what I needed. The Black Forest cake (that I dived in to, so no photo...sorry! ) was also very good. Lots of choices to drink. As a cider fan, I genuinely enjoyed the cider they have on tap. All in all, 5 stars and I highly recommended it.
During my walk-in early dinner, Jack behind the bar is prompt, charming, and very professional in the way he handles customers. The music is at a comfortable level, with a German bent (not just standard top 40 radio). The beer is traditional and comes in every imaginable size from 12-16oz up to 3L. My bread dumplings were a little dense, but the gravy was rich and true to flavor. Step away from the lager and ipa, get an altbier or fastenbier, you will enjoy the variety.
This is an amazing restaurant! Great food and atmosphere. The staff is terrific, always willing to help answer questions and make food and beer suggestions. You can't go wrong here. BONUS...if you are looking something on NYE. They are offering a spectacular Bavarian feast and open bar! Visit and ask about it. Also, remember there are multiple hotels within walling distance of the restaurant. Check it out! You won't be disappointed!
